McLennan County, TX — A McLennan County Grand Jury has indicted a Central Texas convicted felon for the murder of his wife earlier this year.
Carnell Petetan, 36, allegedly killed his wife, Kimberly Petetan in a shooting. Petetan is charged with capital murder because the murder is alleged to have been committed during the course of a burglary or kidnapping.
Court documents indicate that the murder occurred at an East Lakeshore Drive apartment on September 23, 2012. Kimberly Petetan died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. It’s alleged that Carnell Petetan forced his way into his wife’s apartment before shooting her multiple times.
Petetan was taken into custody by Bryan Police. At the time of his arrest, Petetan had the victim’s nine-year-old child with him in a vehicle.
Petetan had been out of prison for less than six months at the time of the killing. He had been sentenced to a 20 year sentence in 1993 for Attempted Murder.
The McLennan County District Attorney’s Office has not announced whether or not they will seek the death penalty.
