DALLAS - There has been a shooting at an 18-story office tower in North Dallas housing the United Texas Bank, among other businesses.
The incident happened at about 11 a.m. at the Four Forest building at 12222 Merit Dr., off Interstate 635.
According to police, an armed man shot a 63-year-old father and his 39-year-old son at a financial services business they own on the third floor. He also pointed his gun at arriving police, who fired at him and missed.
"Officers got there right on time, confronted the suspect. There were some shots exchanged," Dallas Police Lt. Andrew Harvey said.
The suspect then shot himself, Harvey said. He is now in "very critical" condition at an area hospital, according to Harvey. The victims are both in stable condition, he said.
Harvey said the shooting was planned. "This is not a random offense. They were targeted. The suspect knew both of the victims," Harvey said.
Harvey said the building was on lockdown and that no one was being allowed in or out during the investigation.
It was not immediately known what kind of business the victims owned.
No identities were immediately available.
