If you use I-35 in the Hewitt area take note, because the freeway will be closed overnight for the next few days.

Starting Tuesday night, the main freeway will be closed from 7pm to 7am.

All traffic, both northbound and southbound, will be diverted to the frontage roads.

Crews will be installing an overpass that will connect FM 2113 to I-35.

The direct connect of the two is a way to alleviate traffic and increase commuter efficiency.

It is just another phase in the 2.5 billion dollar I-35 corridor project.

“This is 'Main Street, Tx.' We see 80 to a hundred thousand vehicles everyday," said Ken Roberts, TxDOT spokesperson. "A third of that number are trucks so we have a tremendous amount of traffic and congestion that we’re trying to accommodate and increase the capacity on the roadways," said Roberts.

The overpass should be completed by Thursday.
