Killeen man dies from accidental shooting

KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old Killeen man who was shot on Wednesday, January 16.
Officers received at 911 call telling them someone had been shot at 3511 Pebble Drive at 1:18p.m. Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old victim, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately airlifted to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed that three males were inside the living room when one of the males was handling a revolver in an unsafe manner, causing a negligent discharge and shooting the victim in the head. During the investigation, a 21-year-old male was taken into custody. This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, and a complaint was returned, charging 23-year-old Douglas Maximus Heffernan with Aggravated Assault. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke set his bond at $500,000. He is currently in the Bell County Jail
On Saturday, January 19, medical personnel with the Scott & White Memorial Hospital pronounced Jack Tullos Tennyson deceased at 4:39 p.m.
This case continues to be investigated and information will be provided as it becomes available.
