A Killeen man, who is in jail on murder charges, has been indicted again for reportedly punching a jail guard in the face.

On January 23, an indictment for assault on a public servant was handed down to Clifton Sivad Montague, 27. The incident was reported to have happened in November of last year at the Bell County Jail in Belton.

Montague was arrested on October 17, 2012 and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at 1.1 million dollars.

Police believe Montague is responsible for a shooting in Killeen in October that left one man dead. The incident occurred at 3203 Hereford Lane apartment #D at 11:03 p.m., after a 911 call was received telling officers someone had been shot at that address. Upon the officers’ arrival they found a 24-year-old deceased male inside the living room.

The officers began an investigation which revealed that the victim was visiting the apartment when he and Montague became involved in a verbal altercation. The altercation then turned physical and the Montague allegedly shot the victim and fled the apartment. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Latternace Deshawn Newsome deceased at 11:35pm and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences.
