Killeen , tx — A federal judge has sentenced a Central Texas man to 40 years in prison for his role in recruiting girls into prostitution, through the use of cell phones and the Internet.
Jerome Maurice Cole, 27, of Killeen received his sentence in Waco on Wednesday. Cole pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking in November.
According to investigators, Cole had been running a prostitution ring since 2011 where computers and websites were used to lure girls to him and advertise their sexual services. Killeen Police Department became aware of the situation last May when an a16-year-old runaway reportedly called from Cole's home. Police rescued the victim and while investigating, discovered another 16-year-old was forced into the same prostitution. A third child was reportedly being recruited at the time.
Authorities arrested Cole on August 15, 2012, when he arrived at an agreed upon location in Killeen to pick up the third victim.
