Killeen police investigate Thursday morning shooting

Killeen police are investigating an early Thursday morning homicide in the 1100 block of Royal Crest Drive in Killeen.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 2:26 a.m., in reference to shots fired at 1130 Royal Crest Drive. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a 31-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 4:45 a.m. An autopsy has been ordered to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and another male were inside the residence when a female, who was upstairs, heard shots fired. She came down to find the victim, her boyfriend, suffering from gunshot wounds, and the other male was gone from the residence.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.

Detectives continue to investigate this homicide and information will be released as it becomes available.
