Police are still looking for the mother of a newborn found dead in a Killeen Walmart bathroom. An employee discovered the infant Friday afternoon, but so far, no one has come forward.

"There are things that happen with your body after you have a child, and it could make you very sick or even, in some cases, death," said Killeen Police Spokeswoman, Carroll Smith.

Three days after a newborn girl was found dead inside of a bathroom, police are still searching for important clues. They thought they had a lead this weekend, but it turned out to be a dead end.

"The detectives did speak with this female. We do not believe she's involved in the case, nor do we believe she has any other pertinent information," said Smith.

The baby, who is believed to be white or Hispanic, was pronounced dead just after 2 p.m. on Friday. Walmart was never evacuated or closed during the investigation.

"It's just something that you don't want to cause an uproar in the community," said Smith.

An autopsy has been ordered, and Killeen police say they hope it will reveal whether or not the baby was born stillborn. They're also asking anyone with information to please come forward.
