Kool Smiles exchanges Halloween candy for toys

Parents, we all know you cringe at the thought of your children bringing home bags of candy on Halloween, but this year you don’t have to be worried about the potential cavities.

For the first year, Kool Smiles will be taking a part in ‘Operation Troop Treats’. The special project will allow children to bring in their Halloween candy. For every 25 pieces of candy a child brings in, they can receive a toy, donated by “Toys-R-Us”. Each kid can receive up to three toys. The candy, in turn, will be sent in care packages to troops overseas, along with dental hygiene supplies of course!

“We are collecting candy to help keep it out of kids’ mouths where it can cause cavities,” said Associate Dentist Catherine Boenitz, of Kool Smiles in Waco. “And also, these candy pieces will be donated to troops overseas for a morale boost.”

The candy exchange is available to every child, ages three to eight, at any Kool Smile location in the area. Candy will be accepted from the open of business on November 1st through the end of the day on November 3rd.
