Local retailers expect busy holiday season

It should come as no surprise when you walk into your favorite stores and see costumes and candy, from Halloween, moved to the clearance aisle while Christmas trees and wrapping paper are now on sale.
For the Waco Target location, the change came immediately, November 1 to be exact. It's all in an effort to get shoppers already in the mood for holiday shopping. According to the National Retail Federation, holiday sales will increase to 4.1 percent this year, totaling around 586.1 billion dollars.

"You have to buy early if you want the best, cutest things," said Sharon Nelson, Executive Team Leader of Target in Waco. "Especially, like I said, if you want these unique ornaments, they go very very quickly because they're like one-of-a-kind. And, you only get a couple. And, so they're definitely impulse buys right now."

Stores are also looking to help put extra money in your pocket-, as they are looking for holiday workers. The NRF projects around 625 thousand seasonal workers will be hired this holiday season.
