Marlin, TX — A Central Texas police officer is on the road to recovery, following a near fatal accident on November 16 that left him hospitalized in critical condition.
According to DPS Spokesman, D.L. Wilson, the Marlin Police Chief, Darrell Allen, was headed home at 2:30 a.m. from an off-duty assignment. Allen was traveling southbound on Highway 6, north of Marlin, near County Road 121. For reasons unknown at this time, Allen's 2004 Ford Explorer left the roadway before rolling over numerous times and ejecting him from the vehicle.
Allen was taken by Capital EMS to Hillcrest Hospital. Allen has been the police chief in Marlin for four years.
On Monday, November 26, Allen was released from the hospital and admitted to a rehabilitation facility to further treat his injuries.
