Limestone County, TX — A Mexia man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for his role in the death of his father and abducting a woman.
Chad Michael Musgrove, 27, allegedly shot his father to death.
According to police, in one late Friday evening in early August 2011, Nancy Few escaped Musgrove and reported to police in Panorama Village she had been kidnapped by Musgrove. Few told police Musgrove had shot his father while still in Mexia.
In later investigation, Mexia police found 54-year-old William Doyle Patterson dead on the floor of his home at 1326 East Carthage St.
Musgrove was tracked down and arrested in Montgomery County and charged with capital murder.
Limestone County District Attorney, Roy Defriend, says this sentence is fair, as Musgrove has no serious prior history with the law. "He did release her alive."
The jury found Musgrove guilty last Friday evening. Musgrove could face further charges for allegedly shooting at SWAT officers when they arrived in Montgomery County to arrest him. No officer was injured, and he was arrested without further incident.
