Small businesses are the heart of thriving communities, and in order to cultivate growth, the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Baylor University to encourage graduates to start up businesses in Waco.

"There's a tremendous amount of creative talent that we're creating in this community, at Baylor, MCC, and TSTC. And, we hope that Thinc Space can be a mechanism to keep that talent in Waco," said Chris McGowan, Director of Urban Development for the Waco Chamber.
Thinc Space is a newly organized office space in Downtown Waco, designed specifically to hold up to 20 start-up small business ventures. Baylor's two-year-old Accelerated Ventures Program focuses strictly on growing businesses. This new location will now provide 24 students, participating in The Accelerated Ventures Program, their own office space for classes.

"They will hold their classes here. They will also operate their businesses out of Thinc Space. So, you know, they'll have access to this building or this space to do their work, meet with clients, work on their websites," said McGowan.

Once Baylor students graduate from the university, they will be allowed to rent space at Thinc Space for free for up to a year.

The space costs thousands of dollars, but generous donations have made the space and new furniture and equipment possible.

"Over here, we have a lounge, you know, more kind of very relaxed, couches, chairs," said McGowan.

The goal of Thinc Space is to ultimately aid in making Waco the creative start-up capital of Texas.

"There's a lot of talent in this community, and we want to help them start businesses," said McGowan.

Thinc space is expected to be up and running by March 1.
