1 dead following US Marshal involved shooting
Waco, Texas (KWKT) — One man died Monday afternoon following a shooting involving a U.S. Deputy Marshal in Waco.
At 12:50 p.m., a U.S. Marshal Task Force was attempting to serve a warrant on a man wanted for assault and violation of parole.
The suspect, Transcini Richerson, 30, had prior arrests including assault on a peace officer, evading arrest, unlawfully carrying a weapon, deadly conduct and possession of drugs. The warrant warned Richerson to be considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities were able to find the suspect sitting in a parked vehicle on the 2600 block of Cumberland Avenue. When officers tried to approach him, Richerson ignored their orders and started to reach downward, according to the Waco Police Department. During this time, a deputy fired his weapon in self defense.
Richerson was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. Authorities were able to identify the victim this morning.
Police will continue to investigate the matter.
