1 dead in Killeen shooting sparked by argument

The Killeen Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened Thursday night on the 1600 block of Linda Lane. Police say one man is dead.

According to police reports, officers responded to a 911 call at around 7:15 p.m. The caller told officials a man had been shot. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, the victim, a 51-year-old Killeen man, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died from his wounds. He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin at 8:48 p.m. The victim's body was sent for autopsy at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.

Detectives believe the shooting was caused by argument that the victim and his brother were involved in, which turned violent at some point 

The suspect, a 55-year-old Killeen man, was arrested and taken to the Killeen City jail. His name and photo are being withheld pending a review by the Bell County District Attorney's Office.

The victims name will be released after family member have been notified.

This case continues to be investigated and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
