Killeen, TX — The Killeen Police Department added 14 new officers today in a ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
The graduation ceremony was well attended by the community as every seat was taken and dozens more stood in the back.
The 14 cadets completed 960 hours of training over the course of roughly six months.
Class president John Metcalf Jr. gave a few words to the crowd shortly after he and his fellow classmates took the oath and received their new police badges.
“It is amazing that everybody showed up for this and in the fashion they did. It’s quite nerve-racking trying to give a speech and see everybody out there in the crowd, but it was real nice to have everybody out here today," said Metcalf.
The officers will complete another six months of field work before their probationary title is removed in December.
