2 Baylor students treated for hypothermia after boat capsizes

Two Baylor students are being were being treated for hypothermia Thursday afternoon after their sailboat capsizedon Lake Waco.

According to Waco Police Department, the men's boat had some type of boat malfunction, which caused the boat to capsize. The men were then stranded for a lengthy time period. Attempting to turn the boat over proved to be unsuccessful, so the men waited on top of the boat for rescue.

A woman passing by saw the boat in the water and the men on top if it. Police say her actions most likely have saved the young men's lives. She notified the park attendant, who in turn called police.

Waco PD, Waco Fire and ETMC responded to the scene. Waco fire conducted the rescue of the two men and transported them to a waiting ambulance. Their body core temperatures were reported to be 87 degrees. Both have been transported to Hillcrest possible to be treated for hypothermia.
