2 killed in Bryan auto, pedestrian accident

Thursday, October 31, 2013 - 4:56pm

On Thursday around 4:45 a.m., Bryan Police Officers responded the 2500 block of State Highway 21 near Maple for an auto/pedestrian accident.

A white truck was traveling eastbound in the inside lane when the vehicle struck two pedestrians in the roadway. The two pedestrians (a male and female) were unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The Bryan Criminal Investigation Unit, Traffic Safety Unit, and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and the roadway was shut down for approximately four hours.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the pedestrians, later identified as Glenn Crawford, 45, of Bryan and Shaina Sanders, 25, of Oklahoma (with ties to Bryan), were walking down the center of the roadway. A Ford F250 pickup truck was heading eastbound in the inside lane of SH 21.

The conditions were dark, wet, and raining which diminished visibility for the driver who struck the pedestrians.

The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and has been fully cooperative with the police investigation. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is still active.
