AIER releases top college destinations index for 2012

The American Institute of Economic Research has released its top 75 College Destinations Index from 2012.

The study is based on the following categories:

  • Student diversity.
  • Unemployment rate.
  • Degree attainment.
  • Earning potential among others.

The cities were divided up into five different categories based on the size of their population.

Here's how Texas cities stacked up:

  • For the "large metropolitan" category: Houston came in 19th and was followed by Dallas at 10th.
  • For the "midsize metropolitan" category: Austin came in 2nd and San Antonio at 15th.
  • For the "small metropolitan" category: Lubbock was 11th and Killeen 19th.
  • For the "best college towns" category: College Station finished at 11th.
