Waco, Texas — It's one of the busiest times of the year for airport travel, and Waco Regional Airport is no exception.
For the first time in years, the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce says majority of the flights from the airport are going out full. They say their multi-thousand dollar "Fly Waco" campaign, as well as the partnerships with the city and area businesses have encouraged more people to use the airport.
Waco Regional Airport offers multiple flights throughout the day on American Eagle to the Dallas/ Fort Worth International Airport.
"We can compare numbers, year over year and there has been an increase. And, we'd like to put that correlation with the community supporting the airport as well as the efforts that the chamber and our partners have put forth in that," said Julina Macy, Director of Communications for the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce.
The "Fly Waco" campaign is set to end in December 2014. However, the chamber says there may be talks to continue it further.
