Another case of rabies reported in Central Texas

Thursday, April 11, 2013 - 1:45pm

Another skunk has tested positive for rabies. This one was in Hallsburg.

The rabid animal is said to have attacked a family's dog, biting it on the ear, before the dog killed it. The dog is being quarantined at home for 90 days. At this point, it appears the dog will be okay.

In Central Texas, skunks are reported to be the most common carrier of the virus, so be on the lookout. And, remember, urge children and keep yourself away from wild animals because rabies is very contagious.
