Apparent heart attack leads to fatal Waco crash

A possible medical emergency Friday morning leads to a deadly collision in Waco.

Shortly before 10 a.m., officers were dispatched to a wreck at the intersection of 26th and Sanger. When police arrived at the scene, they found a car, driven by 71-year-old Ross Youngblood, and pickup, driven by 58-year-old David Turner, had collided.

Authorities believe Mr. Youngblood suffered some type of medical event while driving east on Sanger Avenue. This caused Mr. Youngblood to run the stop sign at 26th and be hit by Turner's southbound truck.

Mr. Youngblood lost vital signs at the scene and was taken to a local hospital via ambulance, where he was pronounced dead. Medical officials believe Mr. Youngblood suffered a heart attack.

Mr. Turner was also transported to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

Mr. Youngblood’s family has been notified.
