WACO -- Applications for deferred action of Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors, or DREAMers will begin Wednesday.

This allows temporary relief for young immigrants who came to the US before they were 16-years old and were educated here.

they can apply to defer or postpone removal from the country for another two years.

This is in place of the Dream Act that has not been passed by Congress but would allow immigrants that were educated here to get on a path to earn citizenship.

"There are kids that, you know, we've educated and they're doing all the right things. They're getting their educations, they're staying out of criminal trouble, as so you know, my question is why would we not want them? They're the best of what the immigration population has to offer," Immigration Attorney in Waco, Susan Nelson said.

It is estimated that 4,000 people in the Central Texas area will qualify.

There are many qualifications that must be met in order to be considered for deferred action.
