ATF investigating cause of Coryell farm explosion that left one man dead

The Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms unit is assisting in investigating the cause of a farm explosion that left one man dead and two others injured in Coryell Country.

On Sunday at approximately 6:11 p.m., the Coryell County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an explosion at Huffman Farms located in the 5600 block of Mother Neff Parkway.

Emergency personal determined two men had been seriously injured in the blast and one man was deceased.

Charl Wynard Swart,55, of McGregor, was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Beverley Jones.The exact cause of death is still being determined. His body has been sent to Southwest Forensic Institute for an autopsy.

Two other McGregor men, a 50-year-old white male and a 24-year-old male, were severely injured in the blast.The 50-year-old was taken to Hillcrest Hospital by ambulance and is said to be in stable condition. The 24-year-old was taken to Parkland Hospital with serious burns. His status is unknown at this time.
