The Twin Cities changed forever one year ago today.

Last year, during a deadly shooting spree, Constable Brian Bachmann was killed along with bystander, Chris Northcliffe.

Three other police officers were wounded and another bystander was critically injured when Constable Bachmann went to serve an eviction notice to a man on Fidelity Street.

Tuesday several hundred of Bachmann's closest friends, family and colleagues gathered at Brian Bachmann Community Park, renamed in his honor, to celebrate his life.

After a short ceremony the group released 100 blue balloons into the sky and Bachmann's sister said it was symbolic.

"It brings me such comfort and such joy," said Rebecca Davis. "You know, I put all my thoughts into it, I put my heart into it and then I see my balloon go up to my brother and our other fallen officers and I know they're watching and I know they're receiving it."

We're told a group went to C&J's Barbecue afterward to eat lunch.

It's where Constable Bachmann was last seen alive eating lunch before his untimely death.
