Bellmead- On September 7, 2012 at 10:44 am Bellmead officers were dispatched to LaClede St. on a Sexual Assault. When officers arrived, the victim reported the suspect entered the home and attempted to sexually assault her. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to escape and run out of the house to the neighbors to call for help.
When the Police were notified, the victim gave a description of the suspect vehicle. An officer observed a vehicle matching the description traveling west in the 3500 block of Bellmead Dr. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle identifying the driver to be Antonio Salinas 24 years old of Waco. After a check of Antonio license, Antonio was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid.
The victim gave a description of the suspect to officers on the scene that matched the description of the driver of the vehicle officer had stopped. The suspect was then transported to the Bellmead Police Department where he was interviewed by Detectives. The suspect Antonio Salinas confessed to the Detectives of the home invasion and attempted sexual assault.
The Victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threaten injuries. Antonio Salinas was booked into McLennan County Jail for Burglary of Habitation First degree felony and Driving while License Invalid (DWLI). An emergency protective order application was completed for the safety of the victim.
Statements and the investigation revealed this was a random act of violence. The victim was outstanding in her accurate and timely reporting of the incident. Through her thorough and quick description, she provided for an almost immediate resolution to this case.
