Bellmead, TX — A Bellmead man was arrested on Sunday in connection to a shooting on April 12.
Edward Ortiz is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Bellmead police say Ortiz was walking around the 500 block of Maxfield Drive around 6:30 p.m. on April 12 when he saw a woman in her yard, who has reportedly called the cops on him in the past. Ortiz then reportedly started making threats toward the woman about fighting. The victim’s husband came outside to her aid and told Ortiz to leave. Because Ortiz knew police were on their way, authorities say he took off running and fired a shot at the couple. No one was injured.
An afterhours warrant was then filed against Ortiz, in case he was encountered later on in the evening, police could then arrest him. However, Bellmead PD couldn’t find Ortiz that night.
Waco police found Ortiz walking in Waco on Sunday. They arrested him and reportedly found drug paraphernalia on him. Ortiz was then arrested by Waco police.
