Belton ISD will embark on the iBHS 1:1 iPad Project as iPads will be distributed to 2,500 students beginning with Seniors on Friday, Sept. 21. Other grade levels will receive iPads as follows: Monday, Sept. 24, Juniors; Tuesday, Sept. 25, Sophomores; Wednesday, Sept. 26, Freshmen. Students will be issued an iPad for use at school and at home throughout the school year.
Funds for the iPads are provided through the Instructional Materials Allotment through the State which allows flexibility to purchase technology hardware and software and does not have to be used just for textbooks. This 1:1 initiative has been in the planning stages for several months and is modeled after the success of other iPad projects throughout the District.
Five parent information sessions have been held regarding student use of the iPad, and others are scheduled throughout the year from 6-7 p.m. in the BHS Commons as follows: Oct. 29, Nov. 5 and 27, Jan. 14, Feb. 26, and Mar. 7. Information is also available on the BHS web site: www.bisd.net/bhs. Facilitator Heather Heiland may also be contacted at 215.2200.
BHS Principal, Kathy Cook, said, “I’m looking forward to placing iPads in the hands of our students which will give them access to the world through technology. It’s a very exciting time for Belton High School.”
