Bryan, Texas (KWKT) — Blinn College has been awarded a grant from the Texas Comptroller worth almost $270,000 dollars.
The grant comes from the Job Building Fund that is a part of the $25 million Jobs and Education for Texans or JET program to finance equipment purchases for new or high-demand careers and technical education programs.
Blinn was selected to receive funds for the purchase of additional equipment to support the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program.
“It's really gonna increase student access. The additional equipment well really, it's gonna allow more students to be able to work on procedures and training procedures with our virtual iv system.” says Sami Rahman
Blinn plans to use the grant to add to its simulation labs. Some of the equipment the school plans to purchase are additional virtual iv systems, an automated delivery system that will allow students to simulate birthing scenarios, and computerized stethoscopes.
Blinn was previously awarded JET grants in 2010 and 2012. That funding went towards upgrading simulation mannequins and adding patient beds.
