Brenham man faces first degree murder charges after stabbing
BRENHAM -- An argument turned deadly last night in Brenham and now one man is facing first-degree murder charges.
Police tell us the fight broke out just after 5:00 in the 700-block of Fairview Street.
The victim 43-year-old Zeldt Minor and the suspect 28-year-old Jeffrey Hopes started fighting and that's when hopes stabbed minor in the chest.
Minor was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his stab wounds.
The suspect fled before police arrived on scene.
"Based on some information we obtained from some subjects there on the location he had gotten a ride from somebody and was possibly headed to Somerville," said Cpl. Chris Jackson. "Our officers responded to that area and found the car and made a traffic stop and located him inside."
Hopes is in the Washington County Jail tonight on $750,000 bail.
