Bryan PD makes arrest in 2009 bank robbery
BRYAN, Tx (KYLE) — A man accused of robbing the First Victoria Bank in Bryan several weeks ago is now facing new charges tonight after police say he's responsible for another bank robbery four years ago.
On May 31, 2013 police say 61-year-old James Graham walked into the First Victoria Bank and threatened employees with what looked like a gun and bomb.
After demanding money, Graham got away but didn't make it far.
"The troopers observed a vehicle that matched the description, stopped it, contacted the driver who matched they description of the bank robber and detained him," said Bryan Police Officer Kelley McKethan.
As police continued the investigation at the bank, one teller said she recognized the man.
It just so happens the employee used to work at the Guaranty Bank off Texas Avenue when it was robbed in May 2009 by a man who looked very similar to Graham.
"The detectives reviewed the footage from the 2009 bank robbery, along with some other statements that they received and some pieces of the puzzle that they put together were able to get enough info to have a judge sign off on the warrant," McKethan said.
Graham now faces a new aggravated robbery charge all thanks to an observant employee.
"That case may have gone unsolved but because he decided to strike again, he got caught."
