BRYAN -- Earlier today the Bryan Texas Utilities Department advised the Bryan Police Department of a current scam.

At this time unknown person(s) are calling customers advising them that they have an outstanding balance. The caller is instructing them to go to Walgreens and put money on a Money pack or Green dot card which is similar to a Visa card and then call back and make payment.

Normal procedures for residential customers do not include a phone call. They will receive notice in the mail with instructions on how to pay their outstanding balance.

Normal procedures for commercial customers do include a phone call from telephone number 979-821-5700 during normal business hours Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. If they are receiving a phone call from any other number it may be a SCAM.

If anyone has a question as to the validity of such a call they are asked to call the Bryan Utilities at 979-821-5700 and confirm before paying.
