CEFCO Convenience Stores donates $5,000 to Central Texas College
CEFCO Convenience Stores announced at its 11th Annual Hackers-R-Us Charity Golf Tournament May 15, 2012 that it has donated a grand total of $475,000 to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, West Texas A&M, UT Tyler, and Central Texas College.
CEFCO presented Children's Miracle Network Hospitals with a donation of $370,000, which is the single largest donation in CEFCO's 13-year association with the organization.
"We are humbled by the magnitude of the money raised this year by our 2,500 associates” said Brett Giesick, Chief Retail Officer of CEFCO Convenience Stores. "These awesome results begin with the passion and commitment of the Fikes family towards giving back to the young people of our communities. But the real Heroes are the frontline associates, customers, and business partners who work very hard to support these worthy causes.”
The day was capped off with donations to C.E. Fikes Endowed Scholarships, which commemorate CEFCO's founder, Clarence Edison Fikes. The scholarships are available to students majoring in accounting, business administration, human resources, business information systems, marketing, and management. $50,000 donations were presented both to West Texas A&M and UT Tyler, while $5,000 was donated to Central Texas College.
"James and Kim Fikes and our entire leadership team are honored to be able to give back to the communities we service,” said Raymond Smith, Chief Operating Officer, Fikes Wholesale, Inc. "The C.E. Fikes Endowed Scholarships allow us to provide financial support to worthy students in our local markets. We thank our vendor partners and volunteers for their heartfelt efforts in making this annual event better every single year.”
“We want to thank everyone for their support this year” said James Fikes, Owner of Fikes Wholesale. “We have experienced tremendous growth over the past 9 months, and we thank our newest family members of the Food Fast and Taylor Stores who have supported our charitable causes alongside our CEFCO stores. Kim and I cannot fully express our thanks to everyone who played a part in this year’s record breaking results.”
In 1999, CEFCO began its partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals with $700 raised in stores. CEFCO's 2012 fundraising total marks some exciting milestones for the organization. To date, CEFCO has raised $1,370,000 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and $350,000 for the various C.E. Fikes Endowed Scholarships.
