Waco, Texas — Tomorrow is Champion's Day for Hawaiian Falls where all special needs children will be admitted into the park for free.
Champions Day was started about five years ago as an opportunity to give special needs children an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the park at their own pace, without the crowd. Last year, about 1,500 people came out to take part in the event. For two hours in the morning, the park will be set up to cater to the needs of the champions and their families. Music will be lower, more staff will be available for assistance, and more.
"To actually be able to come out and have fun and celebrate, and our staff is just so excited, it helps out. And, to get to have all the families to come come together and just enjoy themselves here," said Jim Patterson, General Manager of Hawaiian Falls in Waco.
Champions Day starts at 8:30 a.m. Family members of special needs children can purchase discounted tickets for $5.
