Chelsea Clinton's mother (-in-law) considering bid for office

(CNN) -- Former U.S. Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky has emerged as a possible candidate for Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District, a seat currently held by Rep. Allyson Schwartz, who is running for governor in the Keystone State.

If she decides to run, the former congresswoman could probably count on the support of a very powerful political family -- her son Marc Mezvinsky is married to Chelsea Clinton.

Philadelphia's KYW news radio initially reported Tuesday morning that Margolies-Mezvinsky, a Democrat, was considering a run.

"It is premature, because we have a congressperson in office now, but it is true that I am talking about it with party leaders and family members," she told the radio station. KYW also reported that former President Bill Clinton is supporting her decision to run.

Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky has already held the seat in Pennsylvania once before for a single term beginning in 1993. Her announcement comes in the same week Chelsea Clinton herself discussed her political future, saying she would not rule out running for public office.

Schwartz, who currently represents Pennsylvania's 13th District, filed documents for her gubernatorial run this past Monday.
