Chick-Fil-A says more donations needed for "Soup for Hungry Souls" campaign

Thursday, February 27, 2014 - 2:10pm

Friday is the last day to participate in giving to the fifth annual "Soup for the Hungry Souls" campaign.

All you have to do is stop by either Chick-Fil-A location in Waco and buy a cup or bowl of soup. In turn, Chick-Fil-A will donate a bowl of soup to the Salvation Army to feed less fortunate members of the community.

This year's goal was to feed at least 2,000 people. So far, Chick-Fil-A says they've just reached 1,200 bowls of soup. They hope to reach at least 1,500 donations by the close of business Friday.

"It is so important that we think about the Salvation Army year round. They had a deficit with their kettle campaign, which put them a little bit behind financially. So, we want to just team up with them and support them and give back to our community by feeding the hungry in McLennan County," said Debbie Quarles, Marketing Director for Chick-Fil-A in Waco.

You have until Friday night, at 11 p.m. to buy either Chicken Noodle or Chicken Tortilla soup, and in turn you'll also feed a hungry soul.

The soup donations will be distributed Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army kitchen in Waco.
