It's been several months since College Station's City Manager, Frank Simpson, died unexpectedly of a heart attack.

Now the vacant position has been filled.

Thursday night the College Station city council unanimously voted to hire Kelly Templin as the new city manager.

Templin, a third-generation Aggie, comes to College Station from Seabrook, Texas where he's served as city manager there since 2011.

Before that, Templin has worked in Auburn, Alabama and Oxford, Ohio. He even spent time here working in development services for the city.

Templin says he feels like he's finally coming back home.

"If they will allow me, I'd love to retire in this community," Templin said. "I guess it's always been an ambition, as it is for many Aggies to come back to College Station, so I feel like I've arrived at the mother ship and I'm going to stick it out for as long as they'll have me."

We're told a time-table hasn't been set yet on when Templin will move to College Station because he has to finish his duties as city manager in Seabrook first.
