COLLEGE STATION, Tx (KYLE) — The College Station Fire Department now has a new interim chief.
Just a couple weeks after Chief R.B. Alley announced his retirement at the end of the month; the city has named Eric Hurt as interim chief, effective Monday.
This will allow Hurt to work closely with Chief Alley until his departure date on June 28th so the transition is seamless.
Hurt came to College Station Fire Department as a 19-year-old firefighter in 1981 and rose through the ranks as driver, lieutenant and battalion chief until being promoted to assistant chief in 1995.
Hurt later served as assistant chief of operations, but now serves as assistant chief of the department’s fire prevention and life safety division. He is also College Station’s fire marshal.
A search for a permanent replacement is currently underway. Internal candidates are being considered.
