College Station parting ways with conference center

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 2:50pm

After being forced to shut its doors in July after failing a structural inspection, city staff members have now decided to get rid of the College Station Conference Center for good.

For the past six months the future of the College Station Conference Center was uncertain but now council members unanimously voted to have a market appraisal conducted on the conference center in order to sell the property.

It was estimated it would cost between $1.6 million and $2.1 million in repairs to bring the conference center back up to code.

A time table has not been set yet on when the property would go up for sale but College Station Independent School District would have the first chance to buy back the building because it was formerly a CSISD school.
