College Station's green seminar series starts Tuesday

COLLEGE STATION -- Household hazardous waste will be the topic of College Station Recycling Service’s green seminar on Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Court Building at 300 Krenek Tap Rd.

The seminar will focus on BVSWMA’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection events and is designed to help participants learn about recycling alternatives, the benefits of properly disposing of hazardous items, and what happens to discarded waste.

The presentation is the first of three green seminars scheduled in the coming months. The Nov. 6 seminar will be about environmentally-friendly and do-it-yourself gift ideas, and the Dec. 6 class will be about reducing waste through composting.

HHW Collection Set for Oct. 27

The fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will be Saturday, Oct. 27 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University Services Building, which is located east of Veterans Park and Athletic Complex on Harvey Road.

Examples of hazardous waste includes paint, paint thinners, automotive batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, household chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, computer monitors, pool chemicals, medical waste and medications.
