MCLENNAN COUNTY -- Local county commissioner's have officially accepted the resignation of longtime McLennan County Judge Jim Lewis.

Lewis announced his retirement after 22 years as the county's top elected official.

Commissioner's are now looking for a replacement which will be discussed in a meeting next Monday.

Applicants have until 5 p.m.. Thursday to submit their resumes.

Lewis's successor will be appointed to serve until the November 2014 general election.
