Corrections officer resigns after aiding the escape of 3 juveniles
MART -- A Central Texas woman is arrested for helping three boys escape from a Mart juvenile facility last week.
Veronica Shay McCoy, 39, was put on administrative leave without pay but has since resigned. She was a juvenile corrections officer.
Officials believe McCoy knew the boys had escape plans but didn't do anything about it.
She posted her 25,000 dollar bond last week.
The juvenile facility will be making some security changes.
"[We'll be] improving our camera coverage and our lighting to ensure that we have 100 percent coverage of our facilities," Texas Juvenile Justice Department spokesperson Jim Hurley said.
The three boys were caught and arrested the same day they escaped.
They are now in the McLennan County Jail.
