A Central Texas dental care provider is taking in Halloween candy over the next few days and will package them for military soldiers overseas.

As part of Operation Gratitude, Kool Smiles will be taking in candy from kids across the state Friday through Wednesday.

Twenty-five pieces of donated candy will warrant a toy for the kid from dentists.

Of course, they said it’s a good way for kids not to eat too many sweets, but more importantly, it’s a way for them to connect to soldiers and give them a little piece of Halloween themselves.

“I can imagine that any piece of home you can get is wonderful over there," said Dr. Mark Coons of Kool Smiles. "We started today and you can come in until November 6."

There are four locations in Central Texas- two in Waco and two in Killeen.
