An idea to turn Austin Ave  into a downtown block party on Baylor game days is picking up steam.

The Downtown Development Corp held a meeting yesterday with residents and business owners to talk about a proposal that close vehicle entrance from South Fifth to Eighth Street during Baylor football home games. The Downtown Development Corp says, it's a way to keep people safe and to create a fun atmosphere. About 65 people attended the meeting and overall, the idea was well received.

"I think it's really going to become the place to be before and after Baylor games. So the idea to be able to head from the stadium to right over here and walk from Dichotomy and down that seems like a fun idea."- Says Tim Orr, Baylor business graduate.

The block party is still in the early stages of planning but if approved a free shuttle will take those from Austin ave to the I-35 near the stadium.
