WACO (KWKT) — The actions of a Waco officer saved one man's life early Tuesday morning.
The off duty Waco officer was on his way to work when he saw two 18-wheelers crash on I-35. The officer got out of his car and ran towards the crash. After he checked on the first driver's condition and found him to be ok, the officer went to the second truck and saw that it was on fire.
The officer, who asked to remain anonymous, saw that the driver was unconcious and tried entering the truck from the passenger side but was unable to. Another witness who was driving by stopped and tried to put the fire out with a small fire extinguisher but the truck continued to burn.
The officer then went to the driver's side of the truck and managed to get the door open. He unbuckled the driver and pulled him out of the truck. Moments later, the truck erupted and was completely burned.
