FAIRFIELD -- One Central Texas environmental group is suing a company claiming one of their power plants continues to violate the Clean Air Act.

The Environmental Integrity Project based in Austin is suing Energy Future Holdings Corporation for its subsidiary, Luminant. They operates "Big Brown," a coal-fired power plant in Fairfield.

The Project says they are suing the company in hopes they will upgrade the plant and reduce its pollutants.

"When we're looking to make a difference we do want to target plants that have the worst record, that really are causing health impacts to you know the people that live nearby, impacts on the environment, this is definitely one of those plants," EIP Attorney, Erin Fonken said.

The Big Brown power plant has been around since the 1970's.

It's located in Fairfield about an hour and a half east of Waco.
