WACO -- They hype of attention stimulants, like Adderall, and the shortage seen around the country have opened the door to a new illegal market.
Doctors are now finding people looking for ADD medication are now turning to the internet for cheap pills that don't require a prescription to purchase.
But the medicine people are receiving at their door step is either ineffective, or worse, dangerous to your health.
"If you get it with a doctors prescription and with a legitimate pharmacy either by mail or in town, you are confident that that's the medicine that's working for you. If you get it another way, from another country or through the internet, you have no confidence in what you're getting," family medicine physician, Dr. Tim Martindale said.
Doctors say since Adderall now comes in a generic form, what the pill looks like could vary.
Also, check the ingredients list on the packaging to ensure your medication is correct.
