Former Baylor football player convicted of sexual assault

A McLennan County jury has found a former Baylor University defensive end guilty of two sexual assault charges.

Tevin Sherard Elliott was sentenced to 20 years in prison as well as a $10,000 fine for each count. The sentences are set to run concurrently.

Elliottt was arrested in April 2012 for reportedly sexually assaulting a woman at a party at a South Waco apartment complex on April 15.

 Elliott was indicted on the two sexual assault charges in August 2012. Following his arrest, Elliott was indefinitely suspended from the football team.

Trial for Elliott began on Monday.
