Fort Hood soldier dies in Thursday night collision

A two vehicle crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist Thursday night in Killeen.

According to police, officers responded to a 911 call on Wednesday, August 28, at 7:29 p.m., telling them of a crash in the 2800 block of Trimmier Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 22-year-old Fort Hood soldier was traveling northbound in the inside lane at a high rate of speed, and a Dodge Ram pickup was traveling southbound on Trimmier, attempting to turn east into a parking lot in the 2800 block of Trimmier. When the driver of the Ram pickup turned east, the rider of the Honda motorcycle collided into the front right driver’s side of the pickup, ejecting the driver from the motorcycle. The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:07 p.m., by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the pickup was not injured in this crash.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.

This crash continues to be investigated and information will be provided as it becomes available.
