While working a directed patrol in the area of Harvey Mitchell Parkway and Luther Street West as a result of recent burglary activity Monday night, an officer of the College Station Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a gold-colored 1995 Honda Accord 4 door vehicle.

While speaking to the driver of the vehicle, the officer noticed a car stereo lying loose in the back seat of the vehicle, which the driver claimed to have bought from an unidentified person earlier in the day.

After receiving consent to search from the driver of the vehicle, the officer was able to recover property that he determined had been stolen from two victims of recent car burglaries in College Station.

As officers continued their investigation, they went to the residence of the driver and observed what they believed to be more items of stolen property. With assistance provided by the Bryan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the College Station Police Department Community Enhancement Unit, detectives were able to serve the search warrant and as a result were able to recover numerous items of stolen property as well as marijuana and prescription medication.

Detectives were able to determine that the property recovered during the original traffic stop and subsequent search warrant were related to at least 17 different burglary of vehicle offenses that occurred in College Station since approximately mid-September. As of this time, detectives have been able to return over $2,100.00 worth of property to owners previously victimized in these crimes.

Additionally, detectives located and seized approximately ½ pound of marijuana and a quantity of illegally possessed prescription drugs.

Arrested:

Bobby Ray Smith Jr - charged with driving while license invalid, two counts of theft, possession of marijuana and felony theft

Gerrie Elaine Aldridge - charged with felony theft, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance

John Matthew Blanton - charged with felony theft

Renate Marisa Johnson - charged with felony theft
